Every year, thousands of students at California community colleges prepare to transfer to CSUN in the fall — and now are able to do so in the spring semester as well. CSUN is taking a big step forward in sustainability this spring as the campus expands its network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers from 29 to 88 stations. By April 1, the beginning of Earth Month, 56 charging stations had been installed and activated at the B2, B6, G3, G6 and G9 parking lots. Matadors interested in ditching frequent visits to the gas pump and switching to electric had a chance to take some test drives on campus this month. Porsche models and three-wheeled ElectraMeccanica vehicles were available for a spin on campus at the Institute for Sustainability’s Campus EV Car Show on April 7. Former CSUN President Jolene Koester has been appointed by the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees to serve as the system’s interim chancellor. The board chose Koester to succeed Joseph I. Castro, who resigned as chancellor in February.
